Obama's Views on Christianity

The question of President Barack Obama's view of the Christian religion has brought about confusion amongst many.
President Obama grew up under the influence of religious skepticism by his Mother and an occasional visit from a Muslim/Atheist Father. He had no Christian training. In the "Christianity Today" interview he states that he went to church occasionally just to listen in the back seat and not to take part.

In a Beliefnet.Com interview he recalls that he felt drawn to the message of Jesus and "felt God's Spirit beckoning him" at Jeremiah Wright's church. He went forward and submitted himself to God and was baptized. He joined the Chicago United Church of Christ church. He felt his submission was to find the truth of God's word. In the Rick Warren Political TV interview he conveys that he "believed Jesus died for his sins and through His death he was redeemed." He says that God is his "source of strength everyday and he does not walk alone." In his prayer every night and morning he prays for forgiveness of sins, for protection of his family, and that God will use him as an instrument.

This, he feels, motivated him to get involved in the concerns of the nation. He says God's voice sometimes is very strong but sometimes not so loud. He has a desire is to get his life and God's will on the same plane. Most presidents throughout history have identified with the Christian religion.
