The Christian View of Cremation

Many Christians contemplate if they should have the traditional burial or be cremated. They worry that if they are cremated, they may not be resurrected. When the body is cremated it is literally burned, so how can one are resurrected if there is no body to resurrect? When a body is buried six feet under, it is also disintegrated. Most Christians believe that if you are a good person on earth, then it does not matter if you are buried or cremated- you will be resurrected either way.

In the past, many Christian countries and cultures have discouraged cremation. It is now accepted in many denominations. Cremation has always been associated with pagans and their denial of the resurrection of the body. Christians have always respected this way for many years and followed the way of the Lord. It has been a custom as well as a tradition.

Most Christians today still feel that there should be a separation between the practices of pagan customs and the proper Christian burial. In the scriptures it does not say anything against cremation; this is something that was brought on by Christians themselves. God will still resurrect someone who has been cremated. It’s as if someone is burned to death in a fire, and the body is totally scorched. Most Christians feel that cremation is not the proper Biblical Christian way to handle the deceased. The proper way would be the traditional burial. Nonetheless, cremation is becoming more and more common today. More Christians want to be cremated as opposed to being buried.
