The Business of Christianity

Christianity offers blessings to the poor in spirit, hope to the powerless and most importantly a relationship with the Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus lived and taught sacrifice, compassion and concern for others and to lead a life free from greed and the corruption that could come for the love of money. Regrettably, many have used Christianity as a means to make money. Other, recognized and reputable church institutions have used the same business practices of fortune five hundred companies to raise money. The exceptions do not minimize the tremendous affect of Christianity on our world stage.

Christianity is real. For the millions upon millions of Christians in America and around the world, Jesus Christ has changed their lives. In America, where a consumer driven culture runs rampant, many have identified Christianity as a good business ploy. The sales of Christian Books, tapes, sermons and better living seminars are big business. There results help to build better lives and closer relationships to God. Christian contemporary and Gospel music is big business, but it doesn't minimize the peace that people receive from hearing the worship music.

Christians give more than the general population and they are often enticed by major giving campaigns. Christian giving primarily comes individually. Although less than ten per cent of Christians tithe their giving is still sacrificial and with purpose -- spreading the Gospel. Christians, particularly in America, raise large sums of money that is spent on food and feeding programs, financing of non-profit programs, the running of Churches and schools, drilling of wells and the spreading of the Gospel to the world. The work of Christianity is important big business.
