Obama's Views on Christianity

As America began to settle into the role of embracing our new president many also began examining his religious values. There are those who have said that he is a Muslim, while there are those who believe that he is a Christian. As far as Barack himself, he has always claimed to be a Christian. Many have given their own opinions about Obama’s beliefs based on what he says and does, but ultimately his faith will come down him.

Barack Obama has expressed that he believes that Jesus gives remission. This is part of the foundation of the Christian faith, which he claims to embrace. Contrarily, he has also been noted for stating a different view when it comes to his mother. One of the things that Barack has mentioned about his mother was that although she never embraced Christianity he still believes that she is not in hell. He has also stated that although he believes in Jesus in the terms of salvation, he is not stuck on the fact that Jesus is the only way to redemption. Taking all three of these statements into account would give you an clue on his views as far as Christianity is concerned. This is because, according to the Christian faith, Jesus is the only way to eternal life. To not embrace this would cause a separation in the Christian belief.

Another thought to take into consideration is Obama’s personal views on some of the “Christian” issues. In his speech on faith he expressed his feelings on the importance that Americans have a more universal point of view during the debates, instead of a religion specific one. Barack Obama believes that faith should not be used as a tool to bring division between people, but to bring them together.
